“A lot of people from here missed it because they were not ready,” said Harrington.
A week ago today, Harrington, who now lives in Lafayette, was part of the Stewart’s tech session of the show after Stewart read her craft blog and invited her to her show. The taped show will air Thursday.
Representatives from the show contacted Harrington and asked her to fly up to New York for her to be in the audience. When she and her father, Al, landed in New York, Jade learned she was going to be a part of the show.
She met Stewart before the show, who was dressed casually in the hallway. Harrington stopped and then gasped and grabbed her chest when she saw Stewart.
“She was like God,” said Harrington. “I have been a fan of hers since I was two years old.”
Harrington appeared in the first segment of the show when Stewart demonstrated how to make a photo mat using the Martha Stewart Crafts simple paper trimmer. During the commercial break, Harrington and Stewart chit-chatted.
“(Stewart) just thought my blog was so cute,” said Harrington. “And she could tell that I was from the South, and she said she had a blast and that it was so good to meet me and thank you for doing this, just kind of random chit-chatting. And I just always assumed she was just Martha, and she was always above that.”
Harrington said she felt “real comfortable” around Stewart.
Harrington added, “I guess she was better than I thought she was, not just the special side, just the whimsical, fun side.”
After the show, Jade and her father spent the next two days touring New York City.
They returned back to Acadiana on Saturday and life is getting back to normal. While she is not a celebrity yet, Harrington is hoping to get invited back to the show. She did say traffic on her Web site: jaderbomb.com has picked up a lot after Stewart said it on the show and posted it on her Web site.
