Kung Fu Friday

Need a little kung fu fighting excitement after a long week of school work? If you answered YES, then you should visit the Abbeville Branch of the Vermilion Parish Library to watch the movie, “Kung Fu Panda 2.” It will be held in Meeting Room B on Friday, February 24, 2012, from 3:00 pm.- 5:00 p.m. Children 10 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult. Meet Louisiana Author Arlene Hebert

Arlene Hebert is the author of the children’s series of books titled “Angeltale Adventures.” These stories will take readers on adventures from Heaven to Earth and places in between.

Arlene is originally from Jeanerett, Louisiana. She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans in 1972 with a diploma in nursing and from St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine in 1987 with a bachelor’s of science in professional arts- health care administration. She now lives in Lafayette with her husband Lyon. Arlene is also a big supporter of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and, to date, has donated over $42,000 from the sale of her first book in the Angeltale Series.

Upcoming Computer Classes Scheduled

Computer classes, sponsored by The State Library of Louisiana, have returned to the Vermilion Parish Library. All classes listed will be at the Abbeville branch location, from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. These classes are free and open to the public, however, registration is required because of space limitations. They are as follows:

March 2- Computer Foundation

March 13- Introducing Windows

March 20- Resume Building and Beyond

April 9- Microsoft Office Word 2012 Level 1

April 16- Microsoft Office Word 2012 Level 2

April 24- Basic Accounting Concepts

Since 1942, the Vermilion Parish Library has brought the joy of reading to the residents of Vermilion Parish in South Louisiana. With six branches throughout the parish, the library offers a wide variety of services and facilities for everyone from toddlers to senior citizens.
