As a commitment to their love for each other, Sarah Anna Dubois and Joshua Paul Lemaire were united in marriage on Friday, February 8, 2013, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at 6:30 p.m. The ceremony was officiated by Deacon William Vincent. Collin Leger, godchild of the bride, was the altar server.

The bride is the daughter of Gregory and Christine Dubois. Sarah is the granddaughter of Joyce Braquet and the late Harold Braquet and the late Dudles and Singsie Dubois. The groom is the son of Doyle and Sheila Lemaire. Josh is the grandson of Myrtle Vincent and the late Franklin Vincent and the late Harold and Beverly Lemaire.

Escorted by her father, Sarah wore an elegant and unique lace over charmeuse gown in soft white. The fit-and-flare silhouette had beaded soutache floral details with a chapel train. Her satin sash was accented with a crystal embellishment. The bride wore a walking-length veil of soft white illusion. The bride carried an all-white presentation style bouquet with spider lilies, hydrangeas, and roses accented with curly willow.

To follow the wedding custom, the bride’s “something old” was her late grandmother’s handkerchief, the “something new” was the bride’s Vera Wang shoes, the “something borrowed” was the rosary from her grandmother, and the “something blue” was the embroidered date of the wedding inside her wedding gown.

Serving as matron of honor was her sister, Courtney D. Simon. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Dubois, sister-in-law of the bride; Monique Braquet, aunt of the bride; Aimee Patin, cousin of the bride; Lindsey Hollier, sister of the groom; and friends of the bride – Sarah Amick, Courtney Devalcourt, Aimee Dronet, and Tiffany Zehnder. The bridal attendants wore formal dresses of charcoal gray satin with sunbeam yellow accessories. The junior bridesmaids wore sunbeam yellow satin dresses with charcoal gray accessories. The bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids carried nosegays of yellow spider mums. The flower girls wore white satin sleeveless dresses with tulle skirts. In keeping with the lovebird theme of the wedding, the flower girls carried gray bird cages nested in yellow spider poms and fern.

Andre Broussard, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Brandon Lemaire, brother of the groom; Jeremy Dubois and Grayson Dubois, brothers of the bride; Ross Simon, brother-in-law of the bride; and friends of the groom – Johnny Beaullideaux, Jason Broussard, Dirk David, Travis Lange, and Jake Montet. Ring bearers were Jackson Dubois, nephew of the bride; and William Simon, godchild of the bride. Ushers were Blake Hebert and Kenny Vidallier, friends of the groom; and Don Wade, uncle of the bride. They all wore gray suits with gray ties. The groom wore a white hydrangea boutonniere with all the groomsmen, ring bearers, and ushers wearing a yellow spider mum boutonniere. The ring bearers carried the couple’s rings in a wooden box, made by the bride’s father, adorned with the couple’s initals in the wedding colors.

Prior to the ceremony, sentimental items, including a set of love birds given to the bride by her late grandmother, were processed to the altar for a blessing. The items were brought to the altar by the bride’s aunts, Annette Bertrand, Develyn Dubois and Josette Johnston; uncle, John Braquet, and cousins: Michelle Picard, Angela Gallet, Danielle Fontenot, and Allyson Marceaux. As the items were processed, Michelle Wade, aunt of the bride, explained the significance of each item.

The mother of the bride was escorted by her sons, Jeremy and Grayson. She wore a formal multi-tiered plum chiffon dress with a sleeveless sequined and beaded bodice and a removable caplet.

The mother of the groom was escorted by her son, Joshua. She wore a formal iridescent chiffon tier dress in the color grape.

Scriptures for the ceremony were read by: Jodie Sellers, aunt of the groom; Billy Dubois, uncle of the bride; Freddy Dubois, uncle of the bride; and Michael Bertrand, godfather of the bride.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Tommy Guidry, organist; Yang Yang Li, violinist; Ray Theaux, timpanist; and Rachel Gaspard, vocalist who is a friend of the bride and groom.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at Black’s. Before entering the reception, the bride removed her veil and put on a white bird cage veil with feather accents. The reception hall was decorated following the love bird theme with bird cages and burlap accents throughout the area. The bride’s cake was attended by her godmother, Sandy Dubois.

The couple will reside in Abbeville after returning from a Caribbean cruise.
